Awake #4/2016: Homosexuality

the new awake is up on jw.orgwith the legalization of gay marriage in many countries, they decided it was time to show: "what does thebible say about homosexuality?

"does the bible promote prejudice?still, some people would say that the bible promotes prejudice against homosexuals and that those who adhere to itsmoral code are intolerant.

‘the bible was written at a time when people were narrow-minded,’ they claim.

I have attempted to stay out of this debate but I cannot! The WT is homophobic but the very SAD part is they are teaching this to CHILDREN and thus doing damage to children. You say they are not homophobic the cartoon, this article, tight pants rant and Herd's speech about the size of a women's brain and if she speaks like a man.

Although I am not a lesbian, I have been involved in the gay community probably longer then most of you have been on this earth. I had far more wonderful gay dads then one little girl deserved but they saved me from my abusive mom. When I went in business for myself, my clients were from the gay community.

When the JWS say oh you can change and become straight that is a bunch of hogwash.

LERKING ELDERS: The cartoon at the end has the child saying to the mom I can tell my friend about paradise Yada yada. Let me tell you if that occurs to one of my grandchildren that little one will learn all about false predictions. Don't be preaching to my under age grandchildren without my consent. This one grandparent who will be front and center in the office at school, then KH and you ELDERS will not know what the hell just hit you! Don't be preaching your crap to my kids.

Were you beaten as a child?

i've been confronting my mother with her dubious parenting skills (abuse) of me as a child.

particularly the beatings i would get with the wooden spoon.

not a light smack but hitting me as hard as she could for as long as she could.

Never a JW nor any of my family. My heart goes out to each of you for all the abuse that you suffered. My mother was an alcoholic she beat me with anything that was close at hand and cussed me out. By the age of 12 I began playing a different game, I came home when I wanted to, I did what I wanted, I started working and supported myself. She started charging me rent and refused to buy me any clothes. I only came home when I knew she had company that would protect me or she was to drunk to care that I was there. I made sure to clean the house and do all the laundry for her on the weekends while she was at work. We lived like that till I graduated from college. If she attempted to throw a punch, she knew by then I would punch her back.

The long term effects of how I was raised is that I still have a very hard time trusting people.

No, I never hit my children. I could simply look across the room at them catch a glance we would smile at one another and corrective measures would instantly take place. They are two very fine young adults. I have had many compliments that as a single parent I did an outstanding job with my kids, all I can say is I did the opposite of what my mother did and prayed a lot.

April is child abuse prevention month

in the building where i work, there is a big poster board and people are putting signatures down on it.

i was thinking about printing something similar to the billboard that was up in benton, tx and adding to the board.

The reason I asked the question was I am also involved in an International organization but one that is geared towards true charity works. We do not have a HQ that demands of us our every move just a basic guideline of meeting format. The meetings are set and run by the current Worthy Matron who is elected into office by the entire chapter membership and she serves a term of 1 year. Her journey to become Worthy Matron takes 5 years as she is elected into the line of officers. Once she reaches the position of Associate Matron she will invite a gentleman to sit next to her for the next two years. This is honestly really for show and sometimes advise. There are 5 line officers. The entire membership consist of both women and men but more women then men. The average chapter will normally have about 90 to 140 members. With on average at least 20 active commitees. The Worthy Matron must attend all committee meetings, see that at least one fund raiser is held each month, prepare for the visit of the Grand Visitation which is somewhat similar to your CO visit as it is an inspection along with all members from just about every chapter from the state will come to see you perform your meeting so the attendance will be around 400 to 500. Along with a huge reception for all these visitors. No pressure on the Worthy Matron haha. Once you have held the station of Worthy Matron, then every meeting they will ask you to stand and introduce you and honor you. Some of us lucky fools have no clue how to say NO and do this crazy WM thing twice or even more then twice. Twice was enough for me so far.

Oh and we do have a dress code long white formals for the ladies. Guys do not get off to easy either we cut them no slack at all, tuxes guys.

I just have to ask. I am not a JW and have never been in a KH but what exactly does the Elders have to do? Based on this thread they are responsible for on average 100 members of the congregation. Based on other threads the meetings are completely outlined for them by HQ, everything they do is outlined for them for meetings which is 4 Sundays and 4 midweek meetings. Then of course I guess they have to do some "council" of wayward ones. Please help me understand why it takes so MANY men to Shepard so few flock. I really am trying.

It is like when the 2 Special Pioneers were at my door and after much discussion about the ARC which of course they had never heard of, not surprising. He stated he would not believe a single word of what was stated in a court of law. I stated these were JW who testified under oath. She stated you read the transcript. No, I watched the live broadcast and you can go on YouTube and watch it for yourself. These are all Jehovah Witnesses from Elders all the way up the line through Jackson. He stated I would not watch it or believe any of it.

I just give up these people are just buried in the sand, their minds are turned completely off. My 2 year old grandson has listens skills.

i think that's the correct phrase?

anyway when i first came here, that little picture that "the rebel" hides behind, was a self portrait of a very sad man, who simply had too much knowledge.

now i feel after 7 months here, i should repaint that " avetor" give some happiness to the eyes, and a contented smile to the lips.. in short my " avetor" was a self portrait of a man with too much knowledge.

As I said before my name comes from Rebel that was what my mother called me, she hated me and I was the rebellious one. Fighter well that is what the "Elder" said I was, he said you fight every thing you disagree with and I said that is how I got to be successful in life.

Never a JW. I came here about 1 year 4 months ago to figure out what JW was all about other then those people who could not read the Absolutely No Soliciting sign at my front door and to figure out the sudden bizarre turn in behavior after 5 years in the "Elder". He never talked about his religion.

I have learned a lot on this site and jw facts. The ARC was the real eye opener for me. My heart goes out to each of you who have been hurt by this cult. For me I will be here to learn what is going on in the borg, how children and women continue to be abused. I appreciate the Sophie and Caleb videos being shown over here since I refuse to go to the official JW site. I find these videos to be emotional abuse and just reminds me that if I do encounter a JW that talking about ARC is extremely important.

I have suffered from a lot of abuse in my life so I advocate against both against children and women's abuse and neglect. This has made me a very strong and determined woman.
